• Green onions
  • Peppercorns

This little green onion makes a fantastic garnish for any number of meals, and is a huge hit with kids fascinated with bugs!

  1. Cut the green part off of a green onion, leaving the whites and setting the green aside.
  2. Carefully cut the roots off of the end of the white, and then cut the small bulb off. Use peppercorn pieces to create eyes on this bulb, and arrange it and the rest of the white portion on a platter.
  3. Slice the greens to create arms, legs, and the small wing-like features. You may need more than one green onion for this, depending on the size.
  4. Create antennas out of the greens, and then arrange all of the body parts on the plate to create the praying mantis.

Serve alongside a bug-themed vegetable tray, use as a garnish for party food, or just make it because it’s fun!
